Thanksgiving

What an adventure we had this Thanksgiving! Thanks to Google maps and a friendly jogger, we set out over an unmaintained dirt road and got completely stuck about a mile away from Matt & Jen's. After a failed attempt at using the winch on Matt's ATV we called in the big guns with his 4 wheeled drive crossover and continued on to enjoy a weekend feast!

I've broken down the video into 2 parts for easier watching!

Part I is the Bowling (the day after)

Part II is of the Christmas Tree adventure

Fall in New England

If there is one season that brings out all the color of New England, it's the fall. If you haven't experienced this season in New England - where have you been? To get a glimpse of all that there is to enjoy with the fall colors, click on the video below.

For those of you that haven't been to New England - there's no better time than the present. We have a pull out bed waiting for you!

This video will not be of the caliber that you might expect from me. I guess that's what you end up with when being a safe driver takes priority over a good video while driving to work!

Enjoy!!

ALCS Series Game

Today's post is brought to you by Attorney Gerry Lemire. Why you ask?
He's the one responsible for sending Jake and I to Fenway Park for game 2 of the ALCS playoffs between the Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians.

It started out with a brief on-camera appearance with NESN's pre-game show. Yup, standing right behind Dennis Eckersley and Jerry Remy was Jacob with his "Go Tribe" poster and his Dad cheering for the Red Sox.

With awesome seats just to the right of home plate and an incredibly close game until the 11th this was a game to remember!
It was a night where both teams had tremendous starting pitchers: Curt Schilling for the Red Sox and Fausto Carmone for the Indians.

Since both starting pitchers struggled it was also a night to see virtually all of both team's relievers. In fact, 5 hours and 14 minutes after an 8pm game start we left with Jacob grinning ear to ear and Dad just tired and ready for the Sox to win another day.

In case you can't see the photo - a 7 run 11th inning put the game away. Sox score 1 more in the bottom of the 11th.
Cleveland Wins 13 - 7.

Thank you Gerry - a probable once-in-a-lifetime event!!!

A House Divided

Welcome to the American League Division Series Final.

It is such a shame that these two great teams can't square off for the World Series Title. Both teams have the best record in baseball this year but only 1 will make it onto the world series.

Which one will it be??

Jake says Cleveland
Dad says Red Sox

We've lived in both places!

Been to both Ball parks!

And seen them both win!

Let the fun begin!!

Emily's 11

Emily had a small family gathering for her 11th birthday.

It's hard to believe how old she is getting - 11 !?!
This year's birthday include a visit from a distant relative from Utah! Marjorlee and her daughter Serrina came for a Boston mini-vacation and stayed with us for 3 days. They enjoyed Boston and Salem - and of course our New England Hospitality.

If you haven't booked your Denning visit yet there is still time to enjoy the fall colors, a Red Sox World Series victory or the soon-to-be Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots!

Anyway... Back to the Birthday...

Enjoy these photo's of Emily:

RED SOX

Sweet Caroline -
they've almost won the Division!

On September 24th we had the great gift of free Red Sox tickets given to us.
The lucky recipients were Jacob, Emily and Harrison and what a time we had!

Here's what the AP had to say...
BOSTON - Mike Lowell drove in five runs to lead Boston's revived
hitting attack and the Red Sox cut their magic number to clinch the
AL East title to two with an 11-6 win over the Oakland Athletics on
Wednesday.

And here is what our kids had to say about it..... (click the button to watch the video).
Although we got there late (5pm start time??), we had a fun time. The Bleacher experience for the kids was, well, a party atmosphere to say the least. It was the first time they experienced flying beach balls of varying sizes and even a blow up doll got tossed around for some added fun!

Here are the pict's.

A Day at Block Island

Block Island
September 8, 2007 was a historic homecoming. For Lael Askew-Elhers it was a return to a vacation spot not visited in 30 years and for Jane and I it was a return to the place where we got engaged 15 years ago.
And for our children, perhaps it is the first visit of more to come. Here are some photo's from that day!

Harrison's Baptism

September 9, 2007

This will have to be a multi-post event since so many things happened surrounding this great event. Harrison had a Great Grandmother, Grandmother and new (step) Grandfather fly in from Utah as well as the local family (both from RI and New York).

To get this post going, take a look at the video that Harrison helped create for the "intermission" during his baptism.

And stay tuned for more pictures and video!
